Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Kong API Gateway Administrator / Developer to lead the design, development, and management of our API infrastructure. You’ll work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance API integrations using Kong Gateway.

Key Responsibilities:

Configure and manage Kong services, routes, and plugins.

Develop custom Lua plugins and scripts.

Secure APIs using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC.

Handle rate limiting, load balancing, and caching.

Monitor, debug, and optimize Kong Gateway performance.

Automate Kong setup in DevOps pipelines.

Maintain API documentation via the Kong Developer Portal.

Integrate Kong with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Customize request/response flows based on business needs.

Mandatory Skills & Experience:

Hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway (including plugin development).

Proficiency in Lua scripting and API transformation.

Strong grasp of API security protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).

Implementation of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

Experience with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specs.

Familiarity with Kubernetes and Kong Ingress Controller.

Proficient with CI/CD tools and Git.

Experience in microservices architecture.

Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Skilled in API testing tools (e.g., Postman, JMeter, Insomnia).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

3+ years of experience working with Kong as an administrator and developer.

Certification in Kong or equivalent is a plus.
