Job Summary:
The In-Patient Waitress is responsible for delivering meals and beverages to patients in accordance with dietary requirements and service standards. She ensures timely, courteous, and hygienic service while maintaining patient satisfaction and adhering to hospital protocols. This role plays a key part in enhancing patient experience and supporting their nutritional care during their stay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient meals and beverages according to prescribed dietary plans and meal schedules.
- Ensure accuracy of meal trays based on individual patient diet sheets and allergies.
- Assist patients with meal setup and provide assistance to those with limited mobility (if required).
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and food safety practices.
- Collect used trays and utensils after meals and return them to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, and kitchen team regarding dietary concerns or changes.
- Report any patient feedback, complaints, or special requests to the supervisor or dietitian.
- Follow all infection control and hygiene protocols within the healthcare environment.
- Participate in daily briefings, training, and health & safety drills as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in food service trolleys and pantries.
Requirements:
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a food service or hospitality role (preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting).
- Basic knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and dietary requirements.
- Good communication skills in English
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to stand/walk for long hours and lift light trays.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
